Our People
Simon Stone, Director.
Born 1959 in London he grew-up in Swansea and went to school in Mumbles and Neath before going to University of Kent where he gained his Law degree.
Law School was at the College of Law in Guildford.
Simon returned to Wales and did his articles and first years as a qualified solicitor with Lindsay Ford and then went on to work at Loosemores, both in the Cardiff area. In 1990 Simon joined Howes Percival a large provincial law firm at its Milton Keynes office. He left in 2001 to enter commerce and became General Counsel at the Title Insurer London & European Title Insurance Services Ltd and then Legal Director of My Home Move, which he helped to form and grow to become one of, if not the biggest, independent conveyancing services in the country.
Simon is our CEO (or in more common parlance for law firms, senior partner). Simon acts for individuals and businesses in the following legal areas: property; business (sales and purchases, start-ups, terms and conditions, partnership and share-holder agreements, business structures and); Wills; Probate; estate planning; elderly clients; Powers of Attorney; Public Guardianship (Court of Protection); and as virtual General Counsel for businesses (working 'within' clients businesses to assist them going forward as if they had a lawyer on the Board).
Simon's interests vary and include Rugby, Golf, Water-sports (coming from Wales he became adept at combining both), and time with family and friends. He has been or is still active in Round Table, 41 Club, the Law Society, business networks and Charity work.
Simon is married and has two sons.
Linda Mason, Director
Linda has been a practitioner in the area for nearly thirty years and joined Kingsley David as a director in April 2009. Linda has always been an innovative lawyer both in her solutions for clients’ problems and in the way she has delivered legal services. Her practice has been particularly in the area of residential property and she has been responsible for thousands of house and flat transactions from first time buyers through to investment houses acquiring portfolios.
Like Simon, Linda has been President of the Local Law Society and is a keen supporter of community interests.
Linda has a home in Cornwall and acts for many clients in the South West of England as well as those in the Milton Keynes and North Bucks areas.
Peter Harrison
Peter is another experienced practitioner having practised in Stony Stratford and the Milton Keynes area for around 30 years. Peter joined Kingsley David in March 2009 having run his own firm and helps clients, families and firms going about their business. Peter's clients have confidence in his wisdom and ability and mostly because he fiercely promotes, protects and defends them and their interests. This he does with inimitable charm and grace - most of the time! His areas of expertise are also property, elderly clients, Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney and small businesses.
Peter is a Notary Public and one of only a few in this area.
Peter's interests are to enjoy life with kith, kin and Canine! His clients used to know his pooch Max well, as he often shared Peter's office. Max is in semi-retirement from the law now preferring instead to potter at home.
Chris Kennedy
The Cardiff theme is echoed with Chris who studied for his law degree there in the late seventies before returning home to Northamptonshire. Chris was articled at Howes Percival and remained there until 2011. It was there that he and Simon met and worked together in the same department. Simon has commented "sometimes we work alongside colleagues who stand-out from the crowd and with whom you cannot help but have respect and friendship. Chris is such a lawyer and man. He is a clear thinker who can get to the points that needs focus, quickly and he finds solutions. He is also a man likely to be a little embarrassed that I have said so!"
Chris is a property, private client and business lawyer and has worked in Northampton and in Milton Keynes.
Chris has significant operational experience which will assist Kingsley David in delivering quality legal services, which is an essential element of practice.
Chris is married with three children.
Sam Ashoka
Sam is head of our Land Development department. From working in-house for one of the Country's largest and well known developers to his years in private practice acting for many, Sam has built a client bank and a wealth of knowledge. Whether it is buying greenfield land or land from within our urbal conurbations, Sam's skills steer clients not just around the legal documentation but also into the commercial impact of the transactions and negotiations.
Apart from time with his family, Sam's interests include a love of Golf.
Sam is married and their children are now adults. More golf!
Paul Montgomery
Paul is a solicitor with over 25 years of Family Law experience in London and the Home Counties. Paul and his team benefit in particular from referrals of clients by other solicitors who do not conduct family work. As a result, Paul's caseload includes international clients as well as those within the UK. Paul Montgomery solicitors was an established niche Family Law Firm which became part of Kingsley David as a result of Paul's long association with Simon. He was also a partner at Howes Percival.
In his spare time Paul indulges himself within the world of his music including playing a mean electric bass! Canines feature strongly in Paul's life too.
Paul is married with a son and two step-sons.
Alastair Brooks
Alastair has been a practising lawyer in Milton Keynes since the early seventies. The hair is now shorter but he has not lost his flairs - I mean flair. Alastair has acted for many of the entrepreneurs, movers and shakers during the growth of Milton Keynes and he brings to Kingsley David's clients his wealth of experience and wisdom not to mention contacts.
Alastair too is a Notary Public and serves law firms, their clients and the general public who require notarial services.
Alastair's main areas of specialisation is project work, often relating to developments and business expansion.
Alastair is married and the next generation is now grown-up.
Amanda Jopson
Amanda has been with Kingsley David from the start. Working for clients in their sales and purchasing of properties and also having office managerial responsibilities Amanda was an integral part of life here in Kingsley David. Due to other commitments which Amanda is pursuing she now works on projects for the practice in the form of a consultancy rather than in day to day matters.
Patricia Reece
Tricia is a divorce and family lawyer and works within Paul's team. Early in her career she worked in property matters but found her vocation in family law. It is not an area to which all are suited as it requires particular skills in listening and understanding often in tremendously sad circumstances but then the strength to execute the legal requirements to serve and protect clients and to uphold their rights. Tricia's clients benefit from her dedication and skills to which they testify and is part of the formidable family law team here headed by Paul Montgomery.
Michael Garton
Michael was a partner at the same firm as Simon, Chris and Paul and in which Tricia also worked. He is a commercial litigation solicitor and is a consultant to Kingsley David. In his spare time when he is not conducting cases within the Court processes he has appeared alongside famous actors in movies. Indeed his profile could be clearly seen to the discerning eye in a Bridget Jones block-buster. It has very much gone to his head.
Helaine Whiteside
Another consultant to the firm, Helaine has strong legal credentials. Having worked within one of the large London (and international) law firms her experience in property matters especially leasehold, enfranchisement, liquor licensing and lending is enviable. Helaine offers support on client matters on a project basis forming part of a team of advisers more often where there are some complex issues.
Isobel Harkin
Isobel has many years experience of conveyancing within law firms in Milton Keynes and much of that time with Alastair Brooks. Isobel is a conveyancing manager working within Kingsley David's strong conveyancing team to ensure clients move home or buy that investment property and safely. Isobel has built a portfolio of clients who trust her abilities and expertise on managing their transaction. Isobel's clients know that she works hard for them and she does have more than her fair share of charm highlighted by the soft Ulster lilt in her accent.
